Considered by some as the pinnacle of the martial arts world, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is comprised of all manner of unarmed combat techniques including strikes, throws, chokes, locks, wrestling, and more. It is a descendent of traditional jiu jitsu (sometimes spelled jujitsu) developed and improved by brothers Carlos and Helio Gracie in the first half of the 20th century.
In the 70 s, however, Rolls Gracie added important guarding positions to it. Since Gracie was slightly built, he incorporated moves that would givehim an advantage over fighters bigger than he was. This technique has been further developed by other proficients into its ultimate form, and has now turned into the Ultimate Fighting Championships.
If you want to study this form of training, it is important to find the right school.Research all of the schools in your neighborhood that offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Then take the effort to go and visit them in person.
Evaluate an instructor s technique. Does he or she merely perform a series of difficult moves and then implore the students to just do it? Or does he demonstrate each technique in detail so the class can understand?
Teaching is not a trait that everyone can master, even if they are the best at what they do. Also larger institutions will have several teachers and break down classes into age, ability and experience. Take care to monitor the kind of class you plan on attending.
Then you should have a talk with the head of the institute. In any good school these people should be willing to openly discuss your potential instruction. You should also learn what kind of training they have had, and if they belong to any professional groups in this area.
Brazilian Jui Jitsu is a special skill, and the instructors must understand its history and the features of its style that make it unique.
Even though instructors of other types of Jiu Jitsu may know the basics, you want to have an instructor who specializes in this form. The next step you should take in your research is to locate some students to talk to. This will be a great help in deciding upon the school.
Do the students like the style and pace of the classes, and are they enthusiastic about their classes? Also be sure the facilities are sanitary. Picking the right Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school is a question of personal preference, and choosing the wrong one can turn you off from this sport.
Doing this research will not be hard and you will learn a great deal. You ll know the right one once you do.
Teaching is not a trait that everyone can master, even if they are the best at what they do. In addition, many schools, especially the larger ones, may break classes into age or experience bracket. May sure you check out the class that applies to you.
Another important thing in choosing the right school is to talk with the head instructor, or owner. S/he should be able to discuss all of the aspects of their programs. Find out about their education and qualifications and what, if any, martial arts organizations they belong to.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is rather specialized, and it is critical to understand its unique style to be able to teach it properly.
Just because an instructor teaches Jiu Jitsu does not mean he can teach the subtleties of this kind of Jiu Jitsu. Talk with the students in the school. This is an excellent way to learn if the school will meet your requirements.
See if they enjoy the style of teaching and the skills of the instructors and if they seem eager about their classes. Also be sure the facilities are sanitary. Picking a good Brazilain Jiu Jitsu school is important because if you are not pleased with the school, you won t be happy with the sport.
If you perform this research, you ll learn what you need to know. You can be really confident about finding the right one if you do.
